Les Jardins Tranquilles
brantôme
The bell tower of Brantôme’s abbey church dates back to the 11th century. It is one of the oldest bell towers in France. It is unusual in that it is a freestanding building, built on a 12-metre-high rock overhang against which the church is built. Its architecture is typical of the Romanesque style that flourished in the Limousin region, with gables crowning the bays and a superimposition of four recessed storeys. Its peak is topped by a quadrangular stone pyramid. Guided tours from February to December.
