mareuil en pÉrigord
In Périgord, the term “cluzeau” refers to a shelter dug or carved by man into the rock. The first settlements on the site of Argentina, a village built on a rocky spur overlooking the Nizonne valley, appear to date from the Middle Ages. Steps, shelves and grain silos were built in the western cluzeau. The east cluzeau is home to a mysterious necropolis, which was probably used as a cemetery for lepers from a sick clinic run by the Lord of La Rochebeaucourt in the early 18th century.
