The Jardin du Presbytère is a contemporary, medieval-inspired garden created using historical documents (De Villis Chapter) on plants and gardens. Sandwiched between the church, the presbytery and the walls of the Promenades, the garden features a grotto and two pools carved out of the rock. It is laid out around a number of squares demarcated by wooden borders (fascines) featuring wild or cultivated plants known in Europe between the 5th and 15th centuries. Each square is devoted to a specific use: vegetable garden (hortus), medicinal and aromatic plants (herbularius), orchard (viridarium), utilitarian plants (dyeing and industrial), cereals, fruit trees and Mary’s garden.
